CONVICT ERA POTTERS – Guest speaker Greg Hill
As Melbourne’s inner suburbs developed, so too did the establishment of industries that started manufacturing items locally. Richmond and Hawthorn’s geology provided amazing early resources such as clay pits which led to the development of Victoria’s early potteries and brickworks.
With the support of a PROV grant, Gregory Hill has published the comprehensive book Victoria’s Early Potteries – our convict era potters. Greg has researched for more than seven years and discovered previously unknown potteries in Victoria.
